Namibia

Where Ancient Deserts Meet Extraordinary Wildlife

Namibia is Africa’s most visually dramatic destination — a vast, sparsely populated country where ancient landscapes have been sculpted into something that barely seems real. The oldest desert on earth meets towering red dunes, skeleton coastlines, and wildlife-rich savannah in a country that rewards the curious and the adventurous. With exceptional infrastructure, outstanding private concessions and some of the continent’s finest lodges, Namibia offers a safari experience that is genuinely unlike anywhere else.

When to Travel

DRY SEASON
May to October is prime game viewing — wildlife concentrates at waterholes and visibility is excellent. June to September offers the best conditions in Etosha. Cooler mornings from May to August make the pre-dawn dune climb most rewarding.

GREEN / WET SEASON
November to April transforms the landscape and draws migratory birds. The dunes of Sossusvlei are accessible year-round. The green season produces lush, colourful landscapes ideal for photography.

What to See

Discover the landscapes that make Namibia extraordinary

Sossusvlei & the Namib Desert

The towering red dunes of Sossusvlei, some rising to over 300 metres, are among the most photographed landscapes on earth. Climb Dune 45 at dawn, walk the cracked white clay of Dead Vlei surrounded by ancient petrified trees, and spend a night under one of Africa’s most spectacular skies. The Namib is the oldest desert on earth and its adapted wildlife — oryx, ostrich and the fog-drinking beetle — is as remarkable as the scenery.

Damaraland

A remote and ancient landscape of volcanic rock, roaming desert-adapted elephant and some of Africa’s finest rock art. The main draw alongside the elephants is the critically endangered desert-adapted black rhino — one of the best places in the world to track them on foot. The scenery, dominated by the Brandberg mountain and Twyfelfontein’s 6,000-year-old engravings, is extraordinary.

Etosha National Park

Etosha is built around a vast mineral pan that acts as a natural magnet for wildlife. During the dry season, the waterholes produce some of the most reliable and dramatic game viewing in Africa — elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, black rhino and the endangered black-faced impala all concentrated around water. Floodlit waterholes allow for extraordinary night viewing that few other destinations can offer.

The Skeleton Coast

One of the world’s most desolate and compelling coastlines — a place of shipwrecks, roaring Atlantic surf, seal colonies and lion prides that hunt on the beach. Access is strictly controlled and numbers are tiny, making this one of the most exclusive safari experiences anywhere.
