Day 1: Meet and greet at Windhoek, Hosea Kutako International Airport to Okonjima.

Okonjima is the home of the Africat Foundation that focuses on the African big cats, particularly Cheetah. We will take you on a tour during which you will meet some of the cheetahs that are in the Africat rehabilitation program.

Day 2: Okonjima to Etosha National Park

An early rise then after breakfast we head towards the Etosha National Park. Rest time is at Namibia’s largest permanent natural lake, Lake Otijikoto, to learn about the history of this unusual landmark. Then off to Namutoni where you will make your first game drive in Etosha. The Game viewing should bring close views of springboks, zebras, gemsbok, giraffes and plenty of birds plus sightings of lions and elephants. Dinner is around the campfire listening to the sounds of the night.

Days 3 & 4: Etosha National Park

The next two days you will spend the day watching the wildlife of Etosha, visiting a number of waterholes and the Etosha Pan. The pan is an extensive flat depression of around 5,000 square kilometres. It is a white expense of shimmering mirages and large herds of game making Etosha a unique experience in Africa. A relaxing dinner followed by a visit to the floodlit waterhole to see the animals of the night coming to drink.

Day 5: Etosha NP to Oppi-Koppi

An early start after breakfast with a game drive before you leave the park and drive into the Desert Mountains of the Kaokoveld, the wilderness of Southern Africa and the home of the Himba people. In the afternoon a visit to Oases village of the Himba people.

Day 6: Oppi-Koppi to Damaraland

Today you head into one of the most beautiful dessert regions in Namibia, the Damaraland. You will visit the organ pipes and rock engravings on the way to Brandberg. The Brandberg mountain is an ancient Bushman spiritual site. Tonights camp and dinner is amongst the giant boulders of the Damaraland with great views over the landscape.

Day 7: Damaraland to Swakopmund

The first stop is in the small town of Uis, an old mining town and one of the best places to buy semi-precious stones, for which Namibia is famous for. Here, rough amethyst, tourmaline and other stones can be found at bargain prices. Then off to the coast and Cape Cross seal colony with close view of thousands of fur seals.

Days 8 & 9: Swakopmund & Walvis Bay

The next couple of days are on the coast as we stay in and around Swakopmund. A trip to Walvis bay for the flamingoes and lots of other birds and maybe a passing pod of dolphins. There are various activities that can be arranged from half-day boat tours for seals and dolphins, scenic micro-light flights or quad bikes across the dessert also sand boarding down the Swakopmund dunes. We can pre-book them in advance so you don’t miss out.

Day 10:  Swakopmund to Sesriem

We go inland again after saying goodbye to the flamingoes in Walvis Bay. We start climbing the mountains across the Gaub and Kuseb passes with spectacular, almost moon-like, landscapes. Stopping occasionally to take it all the beauty of the landscape.

Day 11:  Sesriem & Sosussviel

Today is the Namibia-Naukluft Park and Sossusviel, a truly breathtaking part of the world. It’s an early start to catch the soft light of the sunrise over the desert and onto Sossusviel along distant sand dunes on both sides of the road. The famous Dune 45 arises from the dunes and those who feel fit enough may climb the dune and get a breathtaking view of the surrounding desert and dunes. After breakfast, we take a desert walk with the chance to see gemsbok, springbok, black backed jackals and ostriches. After a good rest for lunch we take a short excursion to see the Sesriem Canyon then back to Sesriem.

Day 12:  Sesriem to Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park

Leaving Sesriem and making our way towards Windhoek we enter the Naukluft National park. The park was created to serve as a sanctuary for Hartmann’s mountain Zebra, which are endemic to Namibia. We will be take a walking trail so hopefully see kudu, gemsbok, klipspringer, baboons and jackal. An evening meal around the fire listening to the animals of the night.

Day 13:  Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park to Windhoek

Sadly unlucky No13, the drive back to Windhoek for the last day, arriving mid afternoon. We will drop you off at the airport for your flight back home or a hotel in Windhoek. Needless to say you will need a good rest after the past two weeks travelling the wonders of Namibia.
